Spicy Chili Oil Wontons

Homemade wontons boiled and tossed in a sizzling chili oil sauce.

Ingredients

  • Wontons
  • 500 g ground pork
  • 500 g lean ground beef (93/7)
  • 2 scallions
  • 2 clove garlic, minced
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp oyster sauce
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • as needed wonton wrappers
  • Chili oil sauce
  • 2 tbsp red pepper flakes
  • 90 ml neutral oil, heated until hot
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp rice vinegar
  • 2 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 0.5 tsp Chinese five-spice powder
  • to taste scallions
  • to taste sesame seeds

Steps

  1. Chop the scallions scallions2 and garlic garlic, minced2 clove for the filling.
  2. Mix the meat ground pork500 g with scallions scallions2 , garlic garlic, minced2 clove , soy soy sauce2 tbsp , oyster oyster sauce1 tbsp , sesame oil sesame oil1 tsp , and sugar sugar1 tsp .
  3. Mix the lean beef lean ground beef (93/7)500 g with scallions scallions2 , garlic garlic, minced2 clove , soy soy sauce2 tbsp , oyster oyster sauce1 tbsp , sesame oil sesame oil1 tsp , and sugar sugar1 tsp .
  4. Place a spoonful of filling on each wonton wrapper wonton wrappersas needed and fold tightly (see wrapper pack for folding style).
  5. Boil the wontons in a large pot large pot of water for 4-5 min, until they float to the surface and are fully cooked.
  6. Meanwhile, place the red pepper flakes red pepper flakes2 tbsp , garlic garlic, minced2 clove , sugar sugar1 tsp , and five-spice Chinese five-spice powder0.5 tsp in a heatproof bowl heatproof bowl .
  7. Heat the neutral oil neutral oil, heated until hot90 ml in a small pan small saucepan until hot and pour it over the dry mix - listen for the sizzle.
  8. Stir in the soy soy sauce2 tbsp and rice vinegar rice vinegar1 tbsp into the chili oil.
  9. Drain wontons wonton wrappersas needed , toss in the chili oil, and top with scallions scallionsto taste and sesame seeds sesame seedsto taste .
